BACKGROUND TO THE CLUBThe club was founded more than fifty years ago long before video had been invented! The original members worked with tapes and slides, amateur 8 mm standard and super 8 film, but as video became available in the mid 80's members slowly began to transfer to the new medium. Having said that however we still have a small number of members who still prefer to work exclusively in film and share their wealth of film-making knowledge with members using other techniques. The club currently has more than 40 active members and meets weekly in St Andrews Church Hall, Albert Road, Caversham from September through May every Tuesday evening to participate in a varied programme comprising practical sessions, external visiting speakers, visits to and from other film and video clubs, practical demonstrations from the more experienced members, and the opportunity to take part in several club, inter-club and international competitions. In addition an important element is the networking between members, sharing ideas and experiences. The club is run by an enthusiastic committee, each taking responsibility for a particular function, and so ensuring that we have a full and active programme of activities throughout the year. We are always seeking new members, but if you just want to dip your toe in the water why not just come along on any Tuesday at 8pm and see what it is all about, you will be sure of a warm welcome LIST OF PAST CHAIRMEN
