INTRODUCTION TO FILMMAKING

Commencing on 17th September 2013 - 6 week course for just £25

Course Objectives

  • To encourage people to try filmmaking
  • To provide necessary background  knowledge
  • To help newcomers with their specific questions
  • To help newcomers with practical aspects of cameras, lights, audio etc.
  • To welcome new members into the RFVM circle of friends

Our 6 week beginners course is very much hands on, and with assistance from existing members, you will script, film, edit and produce your own film on DVD to show on our 7' screen by the end of the course. A proud moment for anyone.

At the end of the course, we do hope you will decide to join us, in which case your course fee will be deducted from the annual membership. If you are  student, the £25 covers you for full membership

Course Modules

  1. Camera craft
      • Knowing your camera – focus, exposure, zebra patterns, back-light, spotlight, artificial gain, framing and composition, rule of thirds, camera angles, shot sizes, crossing the line, stability and movement (what’s good and what’s bad), shooting for editing and creating impact.
  2. Audio
      • Automatic gain, use of microphones, getting good clear sound, using music and sound effects
  3. Lighting
      • Automatic white balance, shooting in difficult conditions, basic 3 point lighting set up
  4. Post Production
      • Choosing software editing programme, getting editing, titling, and creating a professional looking and sounding result on DVD or tape.
  5. Other useful knowledge and Course review
      • Benefits of club and IAC membership, scripting, copyright and any questions not answered.
