Well how time flies - a new season of RFVM already! I certainly hope you enjoy flicking your way through my first humble attempt at the In Focus newsletter. I'd like to firstly offer a huge thank you to all of the committee members who submitted articles of all shapes and sizes for the cause. Thankfully due to the diverse section of topics on offer, most of you should hopefully find something of interest in some form or another.

As well as the editor of the newsletter, I have been given the lofty title of Publicity Manager. (I'm thinking of getting business cards done!) So from now on, the first second and third-rated entrants of any of our film competitions will get a special mention on the airwaves, live on Reading 107 during my evening show. So no longer do the club members and your family get to hear about your victories, some 15-20,000 listeners will too! Yet another good reason to get filming.

As I mentioned, committee members exclusively wrote the articles in this edition, but from now on I'd love to hear from the rest of you! If an article in this newsletter has inspired you in some way; maybe Laurie's book review has got you thinking what book you'd like to review, maybe you strongly disagree with my article on the 'Prosumer'; anything whatsoever, don't hesitate to write in with your articles!

You can email them to me, drew@davandi.plus.com. Or if you wish, they can be typed or (legibly) handwritten, and I will happily transcribe them for you. It's my belief that we could turn the twelve pages in a standard edition of In Focus, into a twenty-four-page edition if enough of you are happy to contribute!

Anything between 50 - 500 words will usually find a place in the newsletter, about anything film or video. Of course, there's nothing stopping you writing longer or shorter copy, and I welcome as many articles from each of you as you can write! Also if you've got some kit you'd like to sell, this is the place to come. Any special notices are also welcome.

Speaking of special notices; I'm sure you will all join me in congratulating our cover story(!) Phil and Linda, who wed on 3rd of August. As far as anyone on the committee is aware, this is the first Reading Film and Video Makers Wedding… If you know better, get in touch and let us know! So a hearty congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Bryant, we wish you every happiness. Now there's a wedding video we'd all like to see!

Thanks for reading, and happy filming
