BEANS
A video by Chris Booth and Phil Bryant
"While finishing my supper of baked beans on toast",
that was the first line of Chris Booth's video.
He phoned two weeks ago, and told me he had an idea for a video and
had done a storyboard. Chris asked me if I would video it for him.
I agreed. The following day I called at Chris's house. I had my camera
in the car.
Chris made me a cup of coffee while I looked at his
storyboard, then I asked when should we do it, Chris replied now if
you like. So we shot 24 takes at his house, some were done three times.
Two days later we went to Little Heath playing fields. Chris set up
a dummy rocket and I shot him lighting the dummy fuse and Chris running
away. Then we put the real rocket in place and the baked bean can
on top. Chris lit the rocket and it went like a dream.
We then took some more shots of Chris putting his glasses
and scarf on. We thought that was it, so we packed up and went to
my house to edit the video.
When we looked through the footage, I had accidentally
erased the rocket taking off. Silly me! Luckily for us Chris had made
two beans can rockets, in case the first one failed. Also he had two
real rockets.
When we took the first shots of the rocket it was quite
sunny, and I had bags and tripods in the shot. So we both decided
to wait for a cloudy day because we felt the rocket would stand out
more. One week later Chris set up the rocket and lit the fuse, the
rocket took off better than our first attempt.
We then came back to my house and started putting the
video together, within two hours we had finished, including titles.
All we had left was voiceovers and background music. Chris went home
for his tea - beans on toast!
Chris returned at 9.00 pm that night and we added the
voiceovers and music.
We finished at midnight, BOTH Video and Whiskey!!
