The memory of hot summer days begins to fade. The evenings draw in. Department stores - with un-seemly commercial vigour - prepare for Christmas sales. Our winters seem so depressingly long, and our summers short. However at the beginning of each September the one thing to put a smile on our faces is the fact that Tuesday nights will once again become our weekly focal point. The Reading Film and Video Makers new 2001 /2002 programme kicks off again on the 11th September for another bumper year!

Whilst you have been away the committee have been busy on your behalf putting together a really exciting programme. It always amazes me how every year we can find new speakers to come along to tell of their experiences and show us the latest developments in film and video making, but we do, and we have done it again! So don't miss a single evening!

It's all down to teamwork, the same teamwork that led to the production of Caversham Remembered, and to the hard work of keeping shops and libraries supplied. Over 1,000 copies sold! If you stood each video on top of each other, end-to-end to form a tower, it would reach 667 feet high! A tower 217 feet higher than the London Eye!

I think it is an achievement that we can all be justly proud. It has not only given our club its current financial stability, it has ensured members films and videos are shown using the latest top quality equipment. In addition to all that we have given over 1,000 satisfied customers an insight to Caversham's past and helped build pride in a Caversham sense of identity. You may also be interested to know that a copy is retained in Reading Library as research material for future generations.

Did you know Caversham has already changed a lot since we filmed it? What else?? Well everyone who was involved gained an awful lot himself or herself. The experience, the fun we all had, and the personal satisfaction of producing something to be proud of.

However it is no good resting on past laurels. It's now 4 years since we published Caversham Remembered, and naturally sales have slowed down so it's time to look for a successor. Our Chairman is keen to produce a new title, as you will see later in this magazine. So give him your support. I guarantee you will learn more from working on such a project than you ever will from reading Camcorder User!! Help yourself, and help your club, get into some real fllm-making!!!
