Have you ever attended evening classes and noticed that people's initial enthusiasm soon fades away and the class size gets smaller and smaller? Many classes have real diffculties in continuing because of lack of support.

Most film and video clubs meet fortnightly or monthly, and even then some struggle to find members. RFVM by comparison meet every single week between September and May and yet our membership has remained consistent at 40+ for a number of years. It's something we should be proud of. However it does not happen by accident. It's the result of good leadership, hard work by the committee (especially the programme secretary), plus of course, the support of every single member.

Each Chairman brings his/her skills and experience to the job. Over the past 3 years we have been particularly lucky to have Brian. His leadership, business acumen, computer skills, and experience as a filmmaker (plus the jokes) have served the club extremely well. So on behalf of all the members a BIG 'thank you' - it has been an excellent 3 years!

Now turning to this edition of the In Focus Magazine. It would be misleading if I were to say that I have been totally inundated with articles, letters and other contributions. In fact, undated (if there was such a word) would be a closer description! My sincere thanks however to the contributions that I did receive. But seriously it would be nice to know whether you value this magazine. It does take a lot of work to produce and when there is total silence when distributed it does make you wonder if it was worth the effort.

Summer time (when its supposed to be sunny and warm) is a time in which individual members can get together and work on joint projects. You get to know your fellow club members better. You can pool your skills knowledge and learn to be adventurous!

Caversham Remembered started out as a summer project and has now sold over a thousand copies! It gave the club the financial stability. A bank balance which is the envy of other clubs. Not surprisingly sales are now tailing off so its time for a new title. Who wants to take up the challenge this year, have some fun and achieve something worthwhile? Have a good summer and have fun!!!!
